First time that this item was sent to appointees fun!!

Graduation stole sent to AF Academy appointees

New members of the Class of 2030 will receive a graduation stole to wear during their high school graduation. It is a first! And I wish I had one many years ago for my high school graduation!

A picture of the stole is here . . . . . . .

If you not aware of it, a "stole" is a decorative, scarf-like garment or sash worn over the shoulders on top of a graduation gown to signify academic achievements, membership in organizations, or cultural heritage. Often made of a smooth fabric, these 35-inch-plus garments are draped over the neck to represent honors, greek life, or a gift to someone who helped the graduate succeed. In this case, the stole represents the "honor" of receiving an appointment to the US Air Force Academy.

Along with the stole will be a certificate of appointment to the Air Force Academy's Class of 2030. Often, the package is referred to as the BFE Big Fat Envelope. By the way, if you have a graduation or awards banquet at your school, then you may be inclined to have a formal award take place. Don't hesitate to reach out to your local (mentor) Admissions Liaison Officer (ALO) to arrange a presentation.

Typically, the BFE arrives by mail in two to five weeks after you receive notice of your appointment. If you desire, I recommend setting up an informed delivery at USPS.com to allow you to track its delivery.

The added "stole" is a nice addition to the overall package you will be sent by the Air Force Academy after you receive your appointment. Congratulations!
